Information

Pavlina Gusheva is a 22-year-old Bulgarian pianist whose musical journey spans three countries. Born in the United States and raised in Bulgaria, she began her education at the National School of Music in Sofia before continuing her studies at St Mary’s Music School in Scotland. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden, where she studied under Markus Groh, winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, and now continues her training with Prof. Hinrich Alpers. She also takes part in lessons in Italy with Prof. Natalia Trull, silver medalist at the International Tchaikovsky Competition.

Pavlina is passionate about keeping classical music alive and accessible to new generations. Through her growing audience on Instagram, she aims to bring the world of classical piano music to a broader and younger audience. In 2022, she appeared as Karl van Beethoven in the Pianodrome production Playing Beethoven at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Inspired by the “golden age” of pianism, Pavlina is particularly drawn to its honest, improvisatory, and deeply human approach to interpretation. In addition to performing solo, duo, and in chamber music ensembles, she enjoys sharing her knowledge and musical ideas to pianists online around the world and gaining inspiration from different genres and disciplines.
