As part of Brilliant Corners - a festival of jazz in Belfast

7:30pm ‐ 9:30pm
The Black Box
18-22 Hill St, Belfast, BT1 2LA

Information

Zoh Amba (Saxophone) Nick Dunston (Double Bass) Chris Corsano (Drums)

Zoh Amba is a young composer, saxophonist, and flautist from Tennessee. Her music blends avant-garde, noise, and devotional hymns. Her music is full of folk melodies, mesmerising refrains, and repeated incantations. Amba released two records in 2022, including her debut record ‘O, Sun’ which was produced by John Zorn and released on the prestigious label Tzadik. Her second record, ‘Bhakti’ features Micah Thomas, Tyshawn Sorey, and Matt Hollenberg. She has collaborated with a variety of high-profile musicians such as Jim White (Dirty Three), legendary bassist William Parker and Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), to name but a few. ‘Bhakti’ has become the moniker for Amba’s ongoing live and recording ensemble project with ever changing members.

For this performance Zoh Amba will be joined by two of the New York scenes finest, Nick Dunston (double bass) and Chris Corsano (drums).
