This summer enjoy the stunning East Lothian coastline & Scottish Borders through adventurous water sports & magnificent marine science activities. You can earn your Nationally recognised Saltire Volunteering Award & boost your D of E hours!
This camp is all about having fun outdoors with your friends and making new ones whilst learning about the amazing wildlife and marine ecosystems in East Lothian and the Scottish Borders.
Throughout the week the mornings will be spent memory making in the rockpools and learning about how we look after our local coastline and woodlands and then each afternoon we dive into our exciting fun filled water sports programme. This will be run by the experts at Coast-to-Coast surf school and campers will get to try a range of water sports from surfing, paddleboarding, bodyboarding and even some coasteering!!
We will also visit the one of kind Carrifran Wildwood in the Scottish Borders/Dumfries and Galloway. This is a very special site of stunning natural beauty and ecological restoration on a HUGE scale. In past 20 years the site has increased the number of bird species from single figures to now into the hundreds! Campers will get a personalised guided walk and talk and the chance to help the Wildwood recover even more supported by Carrifran Wildwood Ranger – Andy Wilson (who has presented at Loretto to our Conservation Society pupils earlier this year).
