Musselburgh Archer arrow trail

A circuit of 11km / 7 miles to find the arrows ‘shot’ by the Musselburgh Archer

10:00am ‐ 2:00pm
Brunton Hall
Ladywell Way, Musselburgh, EH21 6AF

Information

This walk starts from the Musselburgh Archer, a public artwork located by the Roman Bridge on the east bank of the River Esk, celebrating the rich heritage of Musselburgh. The bronze artwork is accompanied by a series of stainless steel arrows installed at locations around Musselburgh, forming a trail around the town, to areas of cultural, historical, natural and community significance.

The trail is around 11km / 7 miles long. It will be a gentle pace, largely on pavements and good paths through Musselburgh and along The Grove by the River Esk.

There is a short, fairly steep section from the river up to Inveresk, and access to the churchyard here can be a bit stony underfoot.

The path goes as far as the site of the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, near Wallyford.

More information
We will meet at the Brunton Hall at 10am to walk together to the Musselburgh Archer statue to begin the arrow trail.

We will be walking mostly on a mix of pavement and path but note that there is one steep section that can get uneven and muddy following rain.

A reasonable level of fitness is required and good walking shoes or boots recommended.

Up to 4 well-behaved dogs (1 per person) on a lead are welcome on this walk. Please make sure you reserve the appropriate ticket when booking.

Age 10 upwards.

Toilets available at the start/finish of the walk, and halfway through.

No cafe, but we will stop for our packed lunch around halfway.
