Information

Blue Giant Orkestar are back in Glasgow's southside, to kick off their 2025 gigging calendar, and we have a very special guest band to make this an enormous and unmissable double bill.

BLUE GIANT ORKESTAR

Blue Giant Orkestar are a tunetastic trans-European gold-plated instrumental hydra of nuclear brass, searing fiddle, pounding tuba, one enormous Russian concert accordion and a percussion section that could flatten your house. Fuelled by Balkan horos, Serbian brass festivals, Turkish pop songs, Bulgarian accordion fireworks and even a spot of Scottish ceildh, they play powerful and intricate originals as well as arrangements from many nations and peoples.

Formed in late 2019 and since spotted at festivals including Knockengorroch, Kelburn Garden Party, Feis Na Mara, Lancaster Music Festival and Celtic Connections, as well as some riotous gigs in their hometown of Edinburgh, BGO promise a party for your
body, a teaser for your brain and a salve for your heart. Their debut album,
‘Constellate’ was released in February 2024 with guests from across Europe.

GARUA TANGO CLUB

Garua Tango Club is a Glasgow-based ensemble aiming to develop an authentic tango scene in the city and beyond. Currently they are a flexible 7 to 9-piece band - consisting of accordion, cello, violins, violas, double bass, flute and piano. Their repertoire represents a broad variety of tango - traditional, modern and experimental whilst maintaining true essence of the genre, as well as having musicians from around the world - cellist Santiago Gil Duarte, who brought the true spirit of tango from Argentina, Megan Warnock from Scotland, Edinburgh-based Chris Lyons, Cyprus-born David Anastasiou, Masha Zhuravlova from Ukraine, Emily Barnett from England, Bianca Wesley-Smith from South Africa, Eldon Bradfield from USA and Ana Cos from Bolivia.
